Apply Now 2023 Summer School Artist in Residence

Bunbury Summer School will run for it’s 10th year in 2023. Bunbury Summer School connects community to creativity through a series of workshops, events and activities run over one week in January 2023 at the Stirling Street Arts Centre and other venues and open spaces across Bunbury.

Stirling Street Arts Centre has an exciting opportunity for an artist to attend our 2023 Act Belong Commit Summer School Artist in Residence program.

The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to attend 3 Bunbury Summer School Workshops at no cost, have access to Stirling Street Arts Centre amenities, work from their own private studio (24hr access) at SSAC from January – March 2023 and collaborate with SSAC members & groups over the course of the residency.

The artist will be expected to work in the studio for a minimum of 5 days over the Summer School period (7th – 15th January 2023) with preference given to artists able to be at the Centre for the majority of the Summer School period. After Summer School the artist will continue working in the studio through to March, implementing the skills and techniques learned from Summer School workshops & SSAC members.

The selected artist will be expected to promote Stirling Street Arts Centre and the Act Belong Commit message via social media (where possible) over the course of the residency.

Although there is no payment the value of this residency is upwards of $6000 with opportunity for the selected artist to earn supplementary income via workshops and exhibition sales.

The residency is open to all artists, however no accommodation is provided. Artists outside of the South West must consider this on application.

The Artist in Residence will be required to present an exhibition of work, workshops and/or public programs throughout or at the conclusion of their residency.

The Artist in Residence is expected to be open and sociable, allowing visitors to their studio to chat about their work over the course of the residency.

Applications close at midnight Sunday the 14th of August 2022.  For enquiries please email or phone Programs Coordinator on 9791 1256
