Here’s Dylan’s thoughts on the residency

I can’t help but feel a sense of gratitude and fulfillment as I reflect on my time as an Artist in Residence at the Stirling Arts Centre. It was an incredible experience that allowed me to immerse myself in my art, explore new techniques, and connect with a vibrant community of artists.

One of the highlights of my residency was having my own dedicated space for two whole months. This gave me the freedom to create without any distractions, allowing my imagination to run wild. During this time, I had the opportunity to work on several illustrations that had been brewing in my mind for quite some time. It was a joy to see them come to life on paper.

In addition to my illustrations, I decided to venture into the world of printmaking. It was a new and exciting challenge for me, although I must admit that the results were a bit mixed. Nonetheless, I embraced the learning process and appreciated the opportunity to experiment with different techniques and materials.

But what truly made my time at the Stirling Arts Centre special was the incredible range of people I had the pleasure of getting to know. The artists, the staff, and the visitors all contributed to the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere of the centre. I was constantly inspired by their passion, creativity, and willingness to share their knowledge.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Ross and his group, Art for Inclusion. They made me feel incredibly welcome and inspired throughout my residency. The warmth and support I received from this group were truly invaluable. I am thrilled to announce that I will continue attending their sessions on Mondays and Thursdays, as I believe in the power of art to bring people together and create a sense of belonging.

Lastly, I want to extend a sincere thank you to the Stirling Arts Centre for making me feel so welcome. The opportunity to be an Artist in Residence was a dream come true, and I am grateful for the support and encouragement I received throughout my time there. It was an experience that will forever hold a special place in my heart.

As I move forward on my artistic journey, I will carry the memories and lessons from my time at the Stirling Arts Centre with me. It has been a transformative experience that has fueled my passion and inspired me to continue pushing the boundaries of my creativity.
