SSAC welcomed our first Artist in Residence as part of Bunbury Summer School 2023.

Local artist Sheree Dohnt  made our renovated heritage studio her home from January to March and had this to say about the experience…

My time as Stirling Street Arts Centre Artist in Residence gave me the opportunity to work outside my usual environment, as I explored using new materials and techniques, all while feeling included in the fabric of the Arts Centre community.

The residency gave me the space and time to plan for new work, with a new body of work to be completed later in the year, inspired by the people and our shared experiences of being connected to this uniquely special place. I am extremely grateful for the experience of being the first Bunbury Summer School Artist in Residence, as it has connected me to a place where I feel I truly belong. 

Sheree will exhibit her work later in the year at Stirling Street Arts Centre.
