Stirling Street Arts Centre Heritage Scarf Festival Competition: Call for Entries
Get inspired by the 2026 Heritage Festival theme, “Change,” and let your imagination soar—design a scarf that creatively explores change – how history shapes us and how we, in turn shape history. Whether you play with colour, shape, texture, materials, or share a story of change, be it personal or community, your work will be displayed in our inaugural Scarf Festival exhibition and be in the running for fantastic prizes.
What counts as a scarf? For this festival, a scarf is anything you can comfortably wear around your neck. Scarves can be crafted from any material or technique—think textiles, knitting, weaving, felting, or even unconventional materials. We encourage you to experiment and push the boundaries! Please note, items whose main purpose is as a necklace or jewellery are not eligible for prizes.
How many scarves can you enter? Enter as many scarves as you wish, provided each was created in the last 12 months and has not been exhibited previously. Every entry must reflect the “Change” theme and include a short artist statement describing your interpretation.
Important Dates & Deadlines: The Scarf Exhibition opens Monday, 4th May at the Stirling Street Arts Centre New Building. Winners will be announced at the Heritage Festival closing event on Friday, 15th May.
Deadline for entries: Please ensure your entry is received by Friday 1st May 2026; late entries cannot be accepted under any circumstances. If your scarf is not received by the deadline, it will not be included in the exhibition or considered for prizes.
Each scarf must be accompanied by its own completed entry form (see below).
Entry fee is $5.00 per scarf (non-refundable) for adults and $3 for under 18’s, payable at the SSAC office.
Scarves may be offered for sale; SSAC will retain a 20% commission on all sales.
Unsold scarves must be collected on Saturday, 16th May 2026.
Who can enter: Entries are welcome from both members and non-members—spread the word and help us showcase the art, craft, and creative ideas of our entire community!
Any queries should be addressed to Debbie at the Stirling Street Art Centre Office on (08) 9791 1256 or email admin@stirlingtreetarts.com.au
