Tutors – Expression of Interest

At Stirling Street Arts Centre, our goal is to provide a wide range of creative workshops and classes throughout the year. If you are interested in tutoring a workshop, we’d love to hear from you.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching programs in a professional and proficient manner.
  • Motivating and inspiring the students to be the best they can be and the provision of individualised guidance and support.
  • Building and maintaining professional relationships and professional values.
  • Building a stimulating, challenging and supportive learning environment that promotes learning and success for all learners.

Tutors should hold:

  • Visual Arts qualification and/or relevant industry experience.
  • Current Working With Children Check (if applicable)
  • Bright and bubbly personality.
  • Experience of developing and delivering workshops and courses catered for a range of ages from children to adults.

Tutors may also hold:

  • Knowledge and understanding of education programs.

Workshops and courses run subject to minimum numbers being met. Tutors will only be paid if workshop/course goes ahead.

  • A brief outline of what you will be doing, include techniques and mediums covered. What skills and/or physical artworks will participants take away from the workshop?
  • If you're interested in teaching under 18s you will require a Working With Children Clearance, which we may be able to assist you to get if needed. Select all if suitable for family.
  • If your workshop is suitable for children under 18 you are required to hold a current Working with Children Card. Please enter the number and expiry date.

  • Please list any materials required, including costs. We can either supply these for you, or you can supply and charge a kit fee per student - let us know which. This helps us with costing your workshop.
  • Do the participants need to bring anything along with them?
  • Please list any equipment you may require, ie easels, whiteboard, projector, screen, computer etc. If none, please state N/A
  • What is the maximum number of students you would take? For a rough guide, we usually run a course with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12-14 depending on what type of workshop is running, and space required.
  • Our base tutor rate is $35/hr. Please state if your rate is different from this. Rate is dependent on skills and experience.
  • State whether your workshop would be a one-off session and how long it may run for, ie 3 hours. Or if it may be a weekend, or a series of workshops over a few weeks.

  • We generally run workshops and courses in conjunction with school terms and plan accordingly, at least 2 months in advance.
